Weekly Yoga Classes

Yin Yoga

Every Monday 6pm (arrival from 5:45pm)

Location: The Entrance Surf Club – 42 Marine Pde, The Entrance
Cost: Community Class $10
What to bring: A yoga mat, blocks and bolster (if you have these – some supplied), water bottle
What to wear: Anything that you can comfortably move in (no jeans/fly zippers)

Yin is a practice that invites us to slow down, drop fully in, and meet ourselves in the now. Just as we are. No agenda. No judgment. No effort to be one thing or another. We simply be.
When we become present in this way, space and time have a way of shifting. Yin is a very passive approach to yoga where you perform the majority of the poses seated on the floor or laying down. The poses are held for longer periods of time, 3 – 5 minutes.
Yin Yoga offers deeper access to the body targeting our connective tissues, fascia and ligaments with the aim of lubricating and protecting our joints.

Suitable for all ages and abilities. Some props supplied, BYO mat / blocks, bolster, if you have them.

A flowing yoga class, open to anyone interested in yoga, their minds or their bodies.

Getting Nerdy with your Yoga Poses Suitable for Yoga Teachers or anyone looking to deepen their practice
This is a comprehensive, in depth look at the application of functional anatomy to the Yoga asana (pose), and the Yoga practice as a whole. By applying these principles of understanding to the poses, we unlock a deeper knowledge of not only the practice, but ourselves. Learn how to identify those minor changes that are going to allow you to make major changes in the way that you see, feel and interact with the Yoga poses.

Adjustment & Alignment for Yoga Teachers This workshop is specifically aimed at Yoga teachers.
The first half of the workshop is Getting Nerdy with your Yoga Poses. Given these alignment principles, the second half of the workshop delves into the application of alignment to the Yoga pose. Covering adjustment safety, verbal adjustment, and the different types of physical adjustment. If you are looking to take your teaching to the next level, this workshop is for you.

Marnie’s classes aim to bring your awareness to the pathways that you often shy away from. By activating specific muscle groups, one can come into postures. Allow your body to work efficiently and more effectively, with less effort required.

Many of us believe our bodies are stuck in patterns because of a genetic predisposition or injuries. Yet our bodies are always changing, moving and developing. The patterns that we have adopted throughout our lives are that – patterns.

Marnie came to Yoga at the age of 17, on the advice of her Chiropractor. She was being treated for Scoliosis for 5 years, and had a leg length difference of 1.5cm. After two years, the same Chiropractor said she no longer needed his services as yoga was doing the trick!
After completing Yoga Teacher Training, Marnie had a HUGE release and ‘thud’ in her hip, it was weak for three days. Marnie’s leg was no longer shorter, now with a regular difference of about 5mm.

Marnie continues to work on alignment within the Yoga asana. She has had several alignment changes as a result of practicing Yoga.

Marnie also teaches two workshops – The Practical Application of Anatomy and Physiology within the Yoga Asana and Adjustment and Alignment for Yoga Teachers
